The fitness sport with the walking-poles is no longer just a trend. Around five million people in Switzerland are true fans, and participate regularly in this unique sport in the great outdoors. For those that would like to learn how to train correctly or more efficiently with the walking-poles, the Steigenberger Hotel Gstaad-Saanen has contacts to experienced trainers who will be willing to help you.
”Come up – slow down”! The slogan from Gstaad is directed at those who want to grab their walking-poles and leave the daily grind behind them. For example, on a 1.5 hour walking route around the “Lauenensee” (lake), at a height of 1,381 m and only 16 km from the hotel. Look forward to slight slopes and beautiful views of the lake.
A quick round before breakfast? For those that want to work up an appetite, they can start their route directly from the Steigenberger Hotel Gstaad-Saanen and walk along the southern mountain slope, at a height of 1,100 m. The views of the “Waadtländer” Alps are amazing.
Those that just want to enjoy their walk, they can take the easy 5.5 km trail (no ticket needed) that leads to Saanen and then back to Gstaad – follow the blue markings of the “Helsana Swiss running walking trail”. The following day you may like to venture on a longer route. Follow the red markings for 7 km on the mid-level (difficulty) trail from “Schönried” – an incredible path on a height of 1,230 m with magnificent views.
Looking for something more challenging? Routine walkers love the 10 km route that takes them from Schönried up to the “Bergmatt”, further on to Vorschess, Rellerli & Rittmal, and then back to Schönried. A great combination of walking and riding the gondola can be experienced. Not for those with weak knees!
We will gladly provide you will all information regarding tours, walking-pole rentals, or reserve you a Nordic Walking training course.
